Family:
To my wife Martha for giving me unconditional
support, time and encouragement through the duration of this project. To my daughter
Christina, who spent almost half of her life experiencing the makings of “Illumine”.
To both my parents who put up with a very loud rock drummer in an un-insulated
room below their feet every afternoon and evening for years and who still continued
their support and encouragement of my playing.
To my cousin, Bob Cooper, who introduced me to the drums and to progressive
music back in the dawn of time….late 60’s early 70’s.
Musical Influences and Mentors:
First and foremost, my musical Sensei, Bob
Rose who gave me the greatest magicians gift of all, the ability to “hear”
music. Bob, also taught me that drums are an orchestra unto themselves as well
as many great conditioning and independence techniques. I attribute my “producers
and engineers ear” as a direct result of Bob’s teachings.
To my friend and mentor, Alan White, who gave me countless lessons long before
I knew him and continues to be a source of inspiration.
Paul “Tye” my engineering mentor, who taught me how to track the
‘sound’ as well as countless hours coiling mic cables……
My Father, Paul Hernandez, who modeled how to just sit and play music, who
still sits at the piano everyday at 87.
